Tips from frequent fliers
Assistant regional general counsel, British American Tobacco
Up in the air: Two or three times a month Areas of travel: Asia Pacific particularly Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Bangladesh. Also London, China and Australia.
Best airport in the region: Hong Kong International. On the way out I know where everything is and on the way back it means I am nearly home.
Best check-in process: Cathay Pacific First Class in Hong Kong. Theres no queuing and your bag is not weighed (great for us overpackers).
Best frequent-flyer lounge: Qantas First Class Lounge in Sydney. It has great food, Belvedere vodka and a spa, and my computer always seems to work there.
Preferred carrier: Around the region, Cathay Pacific as the seats and entertainment afre good and the food is edible.
Favorite business hotel: The Prince Park Tower in Tokyo has a good gym, a 25-meter pool and hot springs.
Favorite family/leisure hotel: The Westin is very accommodating with kids.
Best luggage: A bright green or orange Titan hard case. The color is so no one accidentally picks it up off the luggage belt, and Titan has a lifetime guarantee, which is a real money saver when you go through one or two suitcases a year.
Best plane food: I generally take my own, but Cathay Pacific and Qantas Business Class are generally good.
Most comfortable airline seats: Cathay Pacific Business Class—totally flat and you don"t have to talk to anyone.
Best coffee: I prefer green tea in Japan.
Best tip for staying fit on the road: Stay in a hotel with a good gym, a long pool and near a hot-yoga studio.
How to beat jetlag: Go straight to local time and don"t have your presentations scheduled at a time you would normally be asleep.
How to get an upgrade: Use your points or take the direct approach and just ask.
Essential travel gadgets: BlackBerry, iPod and speakers, power monkey
Websites most visited: Skype so I can say goodnight to the kids
Travel tip 101: Only take carry-on luggage.
